About the Tour

Follow the footsteps of the ancient Olympic champions on an unforgettable full-day journey through the heart of the Peloponnese, where remarkable engineering, breathtaking landscapes, legendary history, and unspoiled nature come together in one extraordinary experience.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Athens to one of Greece's greatest engineering achievements—the spectacular Corinth Canal. Carved through towering limestone cliffs, this remarkable waterway stretches for more than 6 kilometers, connecting the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea. Completed in 1893, the canal dramatically transformed maritime navigation in the Eastern Mediterranean and remains one of the country's most impressive landmarks. Take in the breathtaking views from above and capture unforgettable photographs before continuing your journey south.

Leaving the Isthmus of Corinth behind, you'll travel through the enchanting countryside of the Peloponnese, where rolling hills, endless olive groves, fragrant orange orchards, fertile vineyards, and picturesque villages create some of Greece's most beautiful landscapes. Relax and enjoy the changing scenery as you head toward one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.

Welcome to Ancient Olympia, the sacred sanctuary of Zeus and the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

For more than a thousand years, from the 8th century BC until the 4th century AD, athletes from across the Greek world gathered here every four years to compete in honor of Zeus, celebrating excellence, peace, and unity through sport.

Walk through this extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Site and discover its magnificent monuments, including the majestic Temple of Zeus, once home to the colossal gold-and-ivory statue of Zeus—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You'll also explore the Temple of Hera, the sacred Pelopion, the Ancient Stadium, where thousands once watched the Olympic Games, the elegant Philippeion, and the workshop of the legendary sculptor Phidias, who created the monumental statue of Zeus.

To complete your journey through Olympic history, you may choose to visit either the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, renowned for its exceptional sculptures and priceless artifacts, or the fascinating Museum of the History of the Olympic Games, where the ideals, traditions, and evolution of the Olympic movement are beautifully presented. Both museums offer a unique opportunity to understand the timeless values of fair play, excellence, and international friendship that continue to inspire the modern Olympic Games.

After exploring Ancient Olympia, enjoy free time in the charming modern village of Olympia. Relax at a traditional Greek taverna, savor authentic local cuisine, enjoy a refreshing drink, or browse the local shops for handcrafted souvenirs and regional products. (Food and beverages are not included in the tour price.)

The adventure continues with one of the Peloponnese's hidden natural treasures—the stunning Peristeria Gorge, located near the picturesque town of Kyparissia.

Surrounded by lush vegetation, you'll follow a peaceful trail shaded by trees and native plants before reaching the crystal-clear waters of the gorge. Walking through the refreshing stream, you'll discover an enchanting natural landscape that leads to impressive limestone formations and spectacular stalactites, creating a magical setting that feels untouched by time.

Please note: As part of the route follows the watercourse, we recommend bringing shorts or swimwear along with footwear suitable for walking in water to fully enjoy this unique natural experience.

As the day comes to an end, relax in comfort during the scenic return journey to Athens, reflecting on a remarkable experience that has taken you from one of the world's greatest archaeological treasures to one of Greece's most beautiful hidden natural landscapes.

Combining ancient history, Olympic heritage, spectacular scenery, authentic Greek hospitality, and outdoor adventure, this exceptional full-day excursion offers an unforgettable journey through the timeless beauty of the Peloponnese.
